Graduating the Academy was... I can't quite explain it... But I was happy. Father smiled when I recieved my headprotector... It was like he approved of my... tomboy-ish-ness. But I think it's only temporary.

He heard me singing (Ack! Embarassing!) when I was sitting on the porch. I was bored, but he argued that I should sing more. Not that I hate singing, it's just... I guess it doesn't seem to fit me. But I like music anyway...

By all that is good and holy. The heavens have finally smiled upon me and by their grace, I have managed to hire a team of genin to clean up the "place".

Sadly though, I hear it's Chiyo's team....Someone mentioned to me that I should check my kitchen for poison after they finish the mission. Strange no?

Sometimes, I feel the need to beat my head against the wall. It's a miracle the human species has managed to thrive--by all rights none of us should have made it to adolescence, if the kids I'm teaching are any example.

Kunai are sharp. So are shuriken. This should be something children understand, especially those who grow up in ninja clans and families. So what do they do?

Day 1

Just arrived in Suna, on what the captain calls, "a very important intelligence mission". Which basically means tons of time to mess around! I love missions like these, you get to see new places, meet new people, eat new food, and generally relax. It's like getting paid to be on vacation!

Boys sleep in really late. The sun's been up for a while now and I think only Sagawa-sensei, Tsume and I are awake... It's kind of funny, since Takumi-kun is talking in his sleep, but I don't think Sagawa-sensei thinks it's all that great. I think I saw him twitching about something he said.

Things I Learned Today:

Found a new kind of ground squirrel with thirteen stripes on its back. I found one in the swamp today but that jerk Iori scared it away. Why thirteen stripes? Why not nine or twelve? 'Course thirteen's a magic number, too. Maybe Dad knows. I'll ask him when I get back.
